Matt Ryan Cast as John Constantine in NBC Series!

Matt Ryan Cast as John Constantine in NBC Series!Deadline is reporting that Welsh actor and former "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" star Matt Ryan (Edward Kenway in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag) has been cast as the title character in NBC's upcoming pilot "Constantine." Little is known about the plot for the upcoming series, but the site also mentioned the following, which gives us a glimpse of what to expect: "When the daughter of a late friend is targeted by demons, Constantine steps in to save her."

Written by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) and Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist"), NBC has officially ordered a pilot for "Constantine," which will be helmed by The Descent's Neil Marshall.

Created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben, John Constantine, a roguish magician/detective/conman, first appeared during the author's run on "Swamp Thing" in 1985, receiving his own series, "Hellblazer," under DC's Vertigo imprint in 1988. That book ran for 300 issues before it was relaunched in DC's "New 52" continuity as "Constantine" with a younger take on the antihero. It's speculated that the latest incarnation of the character will serve as the building blocks for the TV series.

Keanu Reeves previously played the character on the big screen in Warner Bros.' 2005 release Constantine, which was directed by Francis Lawrence ("The Hunger Games" films).
