Thor: The Dark World Opens to $7.1 Million Thursday Night

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Thor: The Dark World opened to a strong $7.1 million in North America on Thursday night. The original Thor earned $3.2 million on its first night in May of 2011, but it did only have midnight screenings whereas “The Dark World” opened earlier in the evening.

The Alan Taylor-directed sequel has already reached $152.8 million overseas through Thursday.

Domestically, the film could earn more than $90 its first weekend. The original opened to $65.7 million and went on to earn $181 million in North America and $449.3 million worldwide.
