Is Night Nurse Headed to Doctor Strange?

Some new clues suggest that Linda Carter, aka Night Nurse, may appear in Marvel’s Doctor Strange!

There’s some potentially interesting big screen news coming out of today’s TCA (Television Critics Association) presentations as Steven DeKnight, showrunner on the first season of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” revealed that future Marvel Cinematic Universe plans had an effect on Rosario Dawson’s character, Claire Temple. Although the character was initially planned to be “Night Nurse” Linda Carter, it seems Marvel has plans for Carter to appear on the big screen!

“The feature side had plans for her down the road,” DeKnight explains (via /Film), “so that was the only time we ran into a conflict. So we just used another name.”

As Marvelites well know, there’s a comic book character with whom Carter has been closely tied as of late and that’s none other than Doctor Strange. Originally the star of her own 1970s series, Night Nurse was reintroduced to the Marvel Universe during Brian Michael Bendis’ run on “Daredevil” in 2004. It was very shortly after that, however, that she co-starred with Strange in Brian K. Vaughan’s acclaimed 2006 miniseries “Doctor Strange: The Oath.” Although it’s hardly confirmation that Night Nurse will be featured in the new film, the first issue of that miniseries is being reprinted as a retailer giveaway this Halloween.

It’s entirely possible that the Carter role is the one that Marvel has approached Rachel McAdams about. The star recently confirmed that she’s in talks with the studio to play the female lead in Doctor Strange.

“It’s still super-early days,” McAdams told the LA Times earlier this week, “and I don’t know where that’s gonna go, if it’s gonna go anywhere at all.”

Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is scripted by Jon Spaihts and directed by Scott Derrickson. It is said to follow the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
