Ant-Man and the Wasp gets two writers to pen script with star Paul Rudd
Deadline reports that writers Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, members of the Transformers writer’s room who previously did production re-write work on Ant-Man, have signed on to co-write the script for Ant-Man and The Wasp with star Paul Rudd. The trio will reportedly work with director Adam McKay, who almost directed Ant-Man following Edgar Wright’s departure, on a treatment for the script before penning the full screenplay.
Ant-Man and The Wasp will feature the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang alongside Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne with Michael Douglas also expected to reprise the role of Hank Pym in the film. Peyton Reed will return to direct the film.
“That was one of the things that was important to me in the first movie when I came on was emphasizing the Wasp more, both Hope Van Dyne and Janet Van Dyne,” Reed previously said. “It’s a crucial part. It’s a crucial part because in the comic books, with the exception of the first handful of Ant-Man stories, Wasp came on pretty early on in the comics in the ’60s and you really thought of them as a partnership, a romantic partnership as well as a hero team. It’s going to be fun to play around with all the aspects of that in this movie.”
Ant-Man and The Wasp is set for release on July 6, 2018. Its predecessor has now grossed over $518 million at the global box office.
