Paul Feig Reveals Prototypes for Ghostbusters Toys

Director Paul Feig reveals Ghostbusters toys

In recent years, there has been a problem with movie merchandising where primary female characters from some of the most popular blockbusters are absent not only from the likes of shirts but especially action figures. We’ve seen it happen with Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and as recently as Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, director Paul Feig has taken to Twitter to aleviate any fears fans might have for his upcoming reboot by revealing Hasbro’s prototype Ghostbusters toys for all four of the main female characters, played by Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones.

He went on to reveal there will be more than just the pictured four figures: “Action figures of our Busters have already been in production for months. Several types & sold separately… Mattel, Funko, Diamond Select & others making over 20 figures in all sizes & styles… Fun stuff coming from LEGO too. Just FYI. Sorry, bank account.”

Ghostbusters is also set feature Chris Hemsworth as the new secretary, Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams as a character named “Hawkins,” Matt Walsh as a character named “Rourke,” and Neil Casey as the film’s villain. New York City’s NY1 news anchor Pat Kiernan is also set to appear as news anchor in the film.

Ghostbusters will open in theaters on July 15.
