Lex Luthor to Appear in Supergirl Season 4, Plus First Look at Lois Lane

Deadline reports that Superman’s biggest mortal enemy Lex Luthor is making his way to National City as Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller announces his forthcoming appearance in the fourth season of The CW’s DC superhero series.

“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,” Rovner and Queller said in a joint statement. “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe-to-toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister, Lena Luthor.”

Meanwhile, Supergirl star Melissa Benoist took to Instagram to share a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of The CW‘s three-night superhero crossover event titled Elseworlds, revealing the happy reunion between superhero cousins Kara Danvers/Supergirl and Clark Kent/Superman. The photo also gives us our first look at Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane. The CW recently set the dates for the annual Arrowverse crossover, with this year’s storyline heading to Gotham City, a place previously off-limits to The CW. The crossover will start with The Flash on Sunday, December 9. Arrow will continue the story on Monday, December 10, before it all comes to an end in Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is sitting out of this year’s event, and Black Lightning has yet to establish any firm links with the Arrowverse.

The crossover event stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash along with guest stars Ruby Rose as Kate Kane/Batwoman, Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Jeremy Davies as Dr. John Deegan, and Cassandra Jean Amell as Nora Fries, the wife of the classic DC comics villain Mr. Freeze.

This story will mark Ruby Rose’s debut as Kate Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman. While Kate is Bruce Wayne’s cousin in the DC Universe, the Batman isn’t expected to appear in this story or anywhere else in the Arrowverse any time soon. That said, Batman does exist in this world, and Oliver Queen called him out by name last season on Arrow.
