As heartbreaking as Thanos’ snap was, it certainly freed up a lot of space on the poster for Avengers: Endgame. Compared to the almost two dozen faces on the Avengers: Infinity War one-sheet, Endgame’s poster only features 13 characters. However, despite being clearly visible on the right hand side, Danai Gurira’s name was conspicuously absent from the list of actors at the top.
This glaring omission compelled several fans to voice their displeasure with Marvel Studios on social media:
Danai Gurira left out of the credits? Really? Do better. https://t.co/dC1RFBKpSl

Why is Danai Gurira’s name the only one omitted from the top of the poster?? #BlackPanther #Marvel #AvengersEndgame https://t.co/EUnNVfaV7U

Every actor who appears on the poster has their name listed at the top………except Danai Gurira, the one Black woman. https://t.co/owZYC6yYXs

The frustration was understandable, since Gurira’s performance as Okoye made a big impact in Black Panther and Infinity War. Not wanting to let their fans down, Marvel quickly fixed the mistake and posted a mea culpa via Twitter.
She should have been up there all this time. Check out the official Marvel Studios’ #AvengersEndgame poster. @DanaiGurira #WakandaForever pic.twitter.com/5V1veWMxlz

It’s anyone’s guess as to why Gurira’s name was left out in the first place. Anyone who saw Infinity War knows that Okoye survived the Decimation, so the fact that she’s in the film really isn’t surprising. Plus, the marketing department could have just borrowed a page from the previous film’s playbook and listed the cast on two lines. But now that Gurira’s name has been restored, the poster is perfectly balanced…as all things should be.
