Marvel Drops a Trailer For the New Ghost Rider Comic Book

This year, Marvel has given fresh starts to several of their heroes with relaunched Daredevil, Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men titles. Now, the Spirit of Vengeance is getting a new beginning of his own. Marvel has dropped a trailer for the all-new Ghost Rider series coming this fall.

To plug the series, Marvel has released a trailer featuring commentary from Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Assistant Editor Chris Robinson, and writer Ed Brisson. According to Robinson, the series follows up on the events of Marvel’s Damnation event. That storyline saw Johnny Blaze become the new King of Hell in order to keep any demons from invading Earth. This new title also boasts an appearance by Johnny’s estranged brother, Danny Ketch, who also bears the Ghost Rider’s curse.

“These are two characters who both have become Ghost Riders at very different times in their lives,” said Robinson. “And then they find out that they’re brothers. It’s almost like your brother just became your boss. And that’s a very difficult relationship, and we’re going to see it become very difficult very fast.”

Brisson, who is working on the series with artist Aaron Kuder, explained that what sets Danny Ketch apart from Johnny Blaze is that the former actually “hates” being a Ghost Rider. He’d rather stick to his more mundane job of running a bar. But unfortunately, somebody has to round up all the loose souls that escape his brother’s watch.

“That’s really going to mess with his psyche,” said Brisson. “That’s something that’s really exciting for me to play with.”

Cebulski also affirmed that the series will answer several questions about Ghost Rider that fans have had since he made his debut.

“What is the Spirit of Vengeance? Where does it come from? Why does it possess certain people and not others? What’s this whole history? What’s the mythos of the Ghost Rider character?” asked Cebulski. “Those are the questions that we’re going to answer in this series for fans, finally.”

Ghost Rider #1 hits comic shops on October 2. You can check out the issue’s cover and watch the new trailer below. Will you be adding the series to your pull list when it drops? Let us know in the comment section!
