In one of the biggest stories of the week, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige appeared to confirm that an upcoming film would include a trans superhero. However, that info may have been based upon a misunderstanding. According to a report in Variety, “Marvel insiders” contend that Feige didn’t intend to confirm a trans hero at all. And there definitely won’t be a trans superhero in the MCU “very soon.”
Instead, Feige was allegedly referring to the openly gay hero who will have a larger role in The Eternals; which is slated for release in November. Thus far, Feige has not come forward to clarify his remarks.

It’s possible that the initial response to Feige’s comments might box Marvel into a corner and force the studio to actually introduce a trans hero. But it’s also more likely that Marvel will quietly play down Feige’s remarks and simply move on. To date, Marvel Studios has had only one openly gay character on the big screen in Avengers: Endgame. There was also a character played by openly trans actor Zach Barack in Spider-Man: Far From Home. But that wasn’t a very big role either.
Marvel does have a few gay, lesbian, and bisexual heroes and heroines. But for now, there aren’t any prominent trans heroes at Marvel, either in the comics or the MCU.
