Back in February, Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog became one of 2020’s biggest box office hits and it set a new record for a video game adaptation. After taking in $146 million domestically and a worldwide total of $306 million, a Sonic sequel is now in the works.
Via Variety, Sonic director Jeff Fowler will helm the sequel. Additionally, Sonic the Hedgehog screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller have signed on to write the script. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara will also return to produce the sequel alongside executive producers Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, and Tim Miller
However, the report notes that the new movie is so early in development that casting has yet to begin.
