Earlier this month, Godzilla vs. Kong was moved ahead from its May 21 release date to March 26. Now, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have decided to push Godzilla vs. Kong back a week. The new release date is Wednesday, March 31.
According to Deadline, Godzilla vs. Kong will retain the March 26 date for the international market. However, the domestic shift was meant to open the film closer to Easter. This would also presumably “get the five-day lift at the box office, not to mention spring break is then as well.” Regardless, that won’t change the sequel’s box office prospects if U.S. theaters remain closed in two months.
