The CW Renews Superman and Lois For a Second Season

Last week, The CW premiered the first episode of Superman and Lois, with the second episode dropping tonight. However, the future of the series is already secure. Via Variety, The CW has renewed Superman and Lois for a second season.

The early renewal came on the strength of the premiere’s ratings. Live viewership was estimated at 1.7 million. But with Live+3 numbers, the total viewership jumped to 2.7 million. That was also enough to make Superman and Lois The CW’s most-watched premiere in two years.

“The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment,” said The CW CEO Mark Pedowitz in a statement.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch headline the series as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin also star in the series as Clark and Lois’ twin sons, Jonathan and Jordan. In the premiere episode, Clark finally let his sons know the truth about their family legacy.

Additionally, Emmanuelle Chriqui co-stars as Clark’s ex-girlfriend, Lana Lang; with Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing, and Dylan Walsh as General Sam Lane. The premiere episode also introduced Wolé Parks as Captain Luthor, a new villain who is seemingly an alternate version of Lex Luthor.

Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing developed Superman and Lois; which is the latest Arrowverse spinoff on The CW. The second episode will air tonight.
