Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Moves Up By 3 Months

The next Star Wars Celebration event is coming to Anaheim sooner than expected. StarWars.com has announced that the convention has been rescheduled for May 26-29, 2022. That moves up the event three months from its previous August dates.

ReedPop (the organizers behind Celebration) and Lucasfilm were originally planning to bring the event to Anaheim last summer. But once the coronavirus pandemic obliterated the 2020 convention season, they decided to push it back to 2022. Apparently, the reason they didn’t reschedule it for 2021 was because Disney is planning to resume its D23 convention this year. So presumably, that event will have its own set of Star Wars announcements.

Star Wars Celebration has allowed fans of the franchise to bask in their love of all things Star Wars since 1999. It also lets Lucasfilm share exciting news about the franchise’s future. Next year’s con marks the second time that the event has taken place in Anaheim after previously visiting the city in 2015. In the absence of Celebration, Lucasfilm announced a few upcoming Star Wars projects at Disney’s Investor Day presentation in December.

This latest announcement also confirms that current Celebration ticket holders will have their orders automatically transferred to the new dates. Anyone seeking a refund will have to submit a request by June 11.
