Today’s WitcherCon extravaganza has already confirmed that viewers can start bingeing The Witcher’s second season on Netflix in December. However, the franchise’s expansion into the realm of anime is much closer than that. Netflix has premiered the first teaser for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which also confirms that the film will hit the platform on August 23.
Nightmare of the Wolf takes place years before the flagship series and centers on Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir. The film will explore his origins at a time when a “powerful new threat” is targeting the Continent. You can watch the new trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf below.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is producing Nightmare of the Wolf alongside Beau DeMayo. The movie comes from Studio Mir, the same Korean animation house behind The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender.
A full voice cast has yet to be announced, but rumor has it that Kim Bodnia, who plays Vesemir in The Witcher season 2, might reprise his role for the film.
