Spice Must Flow in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune International Trailer

North American fans will still have to wait for a while, but some lucky people in Europe have already watched Dune. Many others, including Chinese fans, are about to see it hit theaters in a matter of days. To pump up the international audiences, producers have released a new trailer for foreign markets. The video offers a much closer look at Denis Villeneuve’s latest work. And it shows plenty of what’s going to happen to Timothy Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and Zendaya’s Chani, in addition to Rebecca Ferguson’s Lady Jessica, Oscar Isaac’s Duke Leto, and the rest of the cast.

However, if you haven’t watched David Lynch’s take on the story, or the Syfy miniseries, or read Frank Herbert’s novels, approach this video carefully. Beware of SPOILERS. But if you already know the source material, you will see plenty of familiar situations.

The official synopsis for Dune reads:

“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

Dune will debut in theaters and HBO Max on October 22.
