New Secrets Come To Light in Marvel’s Black Panther #1 Trailer

There’s trouble brewing in Wakanda, and King T’Challa himself might be the cause. Writer John Ridley and artist Juan Cabal will relaunch Marvel’s Black Panther comic book series later this year. Their story finds T’Challa’s leadership called into question after new discoveries are made about his past.

Ahead of the first issue’s debut this fall, Marvel has released a trailer for the highly-anticipated relaunch that hints at the fallout from these shocking revelations, complete with brand new artwork and even a few cameos from other Marvel heroes.

Academy Award winner Ridley previously wrote DC’s The Other History of the DC Universe and various other titles starring Lucius Fox’s son, Tim, as the Future Slate Batman. Ridley’s Black Panther run kicks off with T’Challa receiving an urgent message from one of his Wakandan secret agents. But as he races against time to save the agent’s life, he must also fight to keep his “true agenda” hidden from his subjects.

Needless to say, T’Challa’s secrets don’t stay buried for long. And once the word gets out, even some of his most trusted soldiers turn against him, setting the stage for a Wakandan civil war. There’s also the small matter of an army of otherworldly creatures that forces T’Challa to call on a few of his Avengers teammates, including Captain America, Thor, and Doctor Strange.

Black Panther #1 hits comic shops on November 10.
