Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of Hawkeye!
Save the city? We could do this all day. Because Hawkeye has arrived on Disney+, and we want to know what the Superhero Hype community thinks about it! This post is a place for all of you to leave your own reviews, thoughts, or anything else you want to say about Hawkeye episodes 1 and 2.
Since this series is putting Kate Bishop in a leading role, the show opens with a flashback to the Battle of New York during The Avengers. Young Kate witnesses Hawkeye’s non-superhuman heroics, but she also loses her father in the aftermath. Inspired by Hawkeye’s example, Kate spends years training as an archer and an athlete. However, she uses her skills for mischief rather than heroics. Meanwhile, Clint Barton has gone partial deaf, which came in handy when tuning out the Broadway show based on Captain America’s life. All Clint wants to do is spend Christmas with his family and leave Hawkeye behind him.
Kate’s holiday is turned on its head when she learns her mother, Eleanor, is marrying Jack Duquesne. Kate is also alarmed when she overhears Jack’s uncle, Armand, threaten her mother. To get answers, Kate follows Armand into a black market auction that includes items like Clint’s Ronin outfit and his retractable sword. This was all recovered from the Avengers compound, and yet no one seems to realize that Ronin was an Avenger. The auction was attacked by the Tracksuit Mafia, and Kate escaped by stealing the Ronin outfit before she saved the life of a stray canine who is soon to be known as Lucky the Pizza Dog.

Alarmed by the news footage of “Ronin,” Clint tracks down Kate just as the Tracksuit Mafia attacks her. They escape to Kate’s apartment while she explains the situation to Clint. However, the Tracksuit Mafia quickly finds them and firebombs the apartment. Kate and Clint take Lucky with them as the apartment burns, and they have to leave the Ronin suit behind. After ditching Kate in her aunt’s apartment, Clint discovers that a firefighter stole the Ronin suit.
At her home, Kate goads Jack into revealing that his sword skills are far more considerable than he let on. (It also begs the question of whether Jack mentored Clint like his comic book counterpart did.) But Eleanor ignores Kate’s suggestion that Jack had anything to do with his uncle’s death. Elsewhere, Hawkeye tracks down the firefighter to a LARP event and recovers the outfit. He also stashes it away before allowing the Tracksuit Mafia to capture him. When Kate realizes that Clint has been taken, she mounts a rescue mission that immediately fails. Now with both Clint and Kate as their prisoners, the Tracksuit Mafia alert their boss, Maya Lopex a.k.a. Echo.
