Steven Yeun Shares An Update For Invincible Season 2

Last May, Invincible wrapped up its first season in memorable fashion with a clash between Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun) and his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). However, fans will have to wait a while before learning what happens next. During a recent interview with Collider, Yeun indicated that season 2 hasn’t started recording yet. Regardless, he is excited about the show’s future. Steven Yeun shares.

“We haven’t started. I know we’re starting at some point soon,” said Yeun. “I’ve talked to Robert [Kirkman], here and there. He’s super excited about it. He thinks season 2 is gonna be even better than season 1, which I have no doubt about. If you go to his source material, Invincible is an incredible comic, and just thinking about how much story hasn’t been told from that run, it’s gonna be bonkers. I’m really excited about it.”

Yeun didn’t offer any details about how many scripts have been written or whether the animation itself is in progress. But given the long lead time in animation, this makes it unlikely that Invincible will return before 2023.

Shortly after Invincible premiered, Amazon Prime renewed the series for two more seasons. Unlike many other animated series, each episode of Invincible runs around 48 minutes. So while the seasons are only eight episodes long, it’s the equivalent of sixteen 22-24 minute episodes.
