The world of Dungeons & Dragons is coming to television, and eOne has already picked its primary creator behind the series. Deadline is reporting that Red Notice helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber will write and direct the Dungeons & Dragons TV series based upon the extremely popular roleplaying game from Wizards of the Coast. Thurber is also attached to executive produce the series.
Prior to directing Red Notice for Netflix, Thurber helmed DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story, We’re the Millers, Central Intelligence, and Skyscraper. He is also slated to direct two Red Notice sequels with Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds returning from the first film.
The Dungeons & Dragons TV show doesn’t have a network or streaming service attached yet. However, Deadline speculates that Netflix may make play for it, given Thurber’s experience with the streamer. Additionally, eOne is looking to have multiple D&D projects for TV beyond this series.

The TV show is not directly connected to the Dungeons & Dragons live-action feature film which recently wrapped production. Deadline’s report suggests that “the D&D TV universe will complement eOne’s film franchise.”
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley directed the upcoming film, which stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, and Regé-Jean Page. Hugh Grant also stars in the film alongside Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Jason Wong, and Daisy Head. It will hit theaters on March 3, 2023.
