It has been announced that J. Michael Straczynski will be returning to Marvel to write Captain America.
Who is the new Captain America writer?
On Marvel’s official website, the company announced that Straczynski, who previously wrote Thor and was a major Spider-Man writer from 2001-2007, will be writing a new Captain America story. The comic, Captain America #1, will be illustrated by Punisher and Doctor Strange artist Jesús Saiz and will go on sale on September 20.
“Overall, the goal is to do some really challenging stories, some really fun stories, and get inside Steve’s head to see who he really is in ways that may not have been fully explored before,” Straczynski told io9. “If folks like what I did with Peter in Amazing Spider-Man, and Thor in, well … Thor, then they should give this a shot, because I’m really swinging for the bleachers in this one!”
