Invincible creator Robert Kirkman recently teased more The Walking Dead alums joining the voice cast of the Prime Video animated series for its upcoming third season.
Speaking at New York Comic Con 2023 (via Screen Rant), Kirkman updated those in attendance on the progress of Invincible Season 3, revealing that they have begun casting for the upcoming season.
“Finishing touches on the last few bits of season 2 are being done right now. Season 3 is very far along… When I talk about the actors that we have for season 2, it is a minefield. There’s so many in season 3 that we have to talk about,” Kirkman teased. “If you think the cast expanded for season 2, just wait until you hear about who we’re getting in the show in season 3.”
He added, “That might give you an indication as to how far we’re going. There’s just so much big stuff planned… It’s possible that there may be some more Walking Dead alums that may be popping into Invincible at some point.”
Which Walking Dead alums have so far appeared on Invincible?
Kirkman co-created both Invincible and The Walking Dead, which both began as comic book series. So far, Steven Yeun is the only actor who has played a major role in both series, currently voicing Invincible’s title character, Mark Grayson/Invincible. Before that, he portrayed human survivor Glenn Rhee through the first six seasons of The Walking Dead.
Other Walking Dead alums who have already appeared on Invincible include Khary Payton, Lauren Cohan, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, and Ross Marquand, among others.
Based on the Image Comics series of the same name, Invincible centers around Mark Grayson. It follows the half-human teenage son of the world’s greatest superhero, Omni-Man, as he develops powers similar to his father and learns how to become a superhero.
Invincible Season 2 premieres on Prime Video on November 3, 2023.
