Marvel Comics has released an official preview for Fantastic Four #13, in which Doctor Doom meets his dinosaur doppelganger from another Earth.
Written by Ryan North, illustrated by Iban Coello, and featuring a cover by Alex Ross, Fantastic Four #13 is due to hit comic shops next Wednesday. The preview picks up where issue #12 left off, with the Fantastic Four having found themselves in an alternate reality where Earth’s superheroes are dinosaurs. Complicating matters is the fact that the Jurassic version of Marvel’s First Family ended up in the main Marvel Universe. Fantastic Four #13 adds another wrinkle: prime Doctor Doom joining forces with his own dinosaur counterpart.
Check out the preview for Fantastic Four #13 below:
“Two universes, human and dinosaur, are colliding — and if one universe isn’t sacrificed, then both will be destroyed! And making matters worse, an incursion point between universes has swapped the dinosaur and human versions of the Fantastic Four!” an official synopsis for Fantastic Four #13 reads.
“But there is another incursion point elsewhere … in Latveria. And Doctor Doom has plans of his own — after teaming up with the only person in the universe he can trust … himself!” it continues. “The FF and the Avengers are brought to their knees, and only the Brothers Grimm can save the day! Plus: The dinosaur Fantastic Four versus the Avengers!”
Marvel Has a History of Dinosaur Characters
While this storyline marks the first appearance of the dinosaur Doctor Doom, Marvel has a history of dinosaur characters from alternate realities. The most prominent of these is the heroic Devil Dinosaur, originally of Earth-78411. There have been several other variants of Devil Dinosaur, but the one currently teamed with Moon Girl is the most famous.
Another notable dinosaur variant is Pter Ptarker, aka Spider-Rex. Hailing from Earth-66, Spider-Rex first appeared in last year’s Edge of Spider-Verse #1. He was also one of the many Spider-Man variants to appear in the recent animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It is currently unclear if the dinosaur Doctor Doom and Fantastic Four are also from Earth-66.
Fantastic Four #13 goes on sale Wednesday, November 15 from Marvel Comics.
