Marvel’s Netflix shows have been added to the official MCU timeline page on Disney+.
Per CultureCrave, Marvel has officially canonized the studios’ six original series that premiered on Netflix, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Punisher, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.
The Netflix titles appear shortly after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy’s place in the MCU timeline. The order reads: Daredevil, Jessia Jones, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Captain America: Civil War, Black Widow, Black Panther, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The Punisher.
Marvel’s Netflix series, also known as The Defenders Saga, began in 2015 with the first season of Daredevil. All six series were removed from Netflix in March 2022 before they then began streaming on Disney+ later that month.
Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum discusses the Netflix shows and MCU canon
Brad Winderbaum, an executive producer for Marvel Studios, recently discussed the Netflix series’ place in the MCU’s canon when speaking with Screen Rant. He said, “I can say that up until this point, we’ve been a little bit cagey about what’s Sacred Timeline, what’s not Sacred Timeline. That was born of, frankly, a period at the studio where we were like, ‘We have to stick the landing with the vendors. It was another part of the company developing the Netflix stuff. We were aware of what they were doing, they were aware of what we were doing, but there was a lot to balance anyway.
“But now that some time has passed; now that we see actually how well integrated the stories are, I think that I personally, Brad Winderbaum, would be confident in saying it is part of the Sacred Timeline.”
The canonization comes right after Disney+ released Echo, a limited series that includes characters from Daredevil including Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.
All five episodes of Echo, along with all the Marvel Netflix series, are currently streaming on Disney+.
