Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have confirmed that the premiere issue of Cobra Commander is getting a second printing.
Cobra Commander launched last Wednesday, January 14, as the second of four limited series that serve to introduce G.I. Joe characters to Skybound and Image‘s Energon Universe. On its official website, Skybound announced that Cobra Commander #1 is heading back to the printers after selling out at the distributor level. The second printing will hit comic shops in February with four all-new variant covers. These include two covers by Jason Howard and another by series artist Andrea Milana — plus a “Skybound Chapbook” variant to be revealed at a later time.

What is Skybound’s Cobra Commander about?
Skybound’s Cobra Commander series unites writer Joshua Williamson, artist Milana, and colorist Annalisa Leoni. An official synopsis for issue #1 reads as follows: “The COBRA Threat begins HERE. In a world where Cobra doesn’t exist, one man’s sinister plans to utilize the mysterious alien substance known as Energon will send shockwaves across the globe. Who is Cobra Commander? Where does he come from? And what horrors is he planning to unleash that will rock the world — and maybe the universe — to its core?”
As previously mentioned, Cobra Commander is the second G.I. Joe series to launch as part of the Energon Universe. The first, Duke, launched back in December. In addition to these two titles, the EU is currently made up of fellow Hasbro IP Transformers and the Skybound-original Void Rivals. The comic studio recently put out a trailer for Wave 2 of the Energon Universe, teasing — among other things — a team-up between Cobra Commander and Megatron.
Cobra Commander #1 is on sale now from Image Comics. The second printing arrives on Wednesday, February 21.
