Marvel Comics has released an official trailer for the debut issue of writer/artist Peach Momoko‘s new Ultimate X-Men series.
Ultimate X-Men launches in early March as the third ongoing series of Marvel‘s all-new Ultimate Universe (following Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther). The trailer previews Momoko’s bold new vision for mutantkind, which centers around Hisako Ichiki/Armor. Another prominent player is Maystorm, a character Momoko originally created for Marvel’s New Champions variant cover program.

At this time, Marvel has also shared all of the various covers that will adorn Ultimate X-Men #1. The premiere issue features a main cover by Momoko, who also provides two variant covers. Additional variants hail from such artists as Aka, InHyuk Lee, Betsy Cola, Dike Ruan, and Mark Brooks.
What to expect from Ultimate X-Men
An official synopsis for Ultimate X-Men #1 reads as follows: “Hisako Ichiki is a teenage girl who just wants to live a normal life — go to school, hang out with her friends, ignore the political strife broiling over after the events of ULTIMATE INVASION — but life has other plans for her. In Japan, urban legends have sprung to life and brought some unusual new powers with them … Meet Armor, Maystorm and a group of new Ultimate X-Men the likes of which you’ve never seen before!”
“At first, I was worried about being chosen for such an important project, but the more I draw and write the series, the more confident I am with my own vision of ULTIMATE X-MEN,” Momoko recently told AiPT Comics. “ULTIMATE X-MEN isn’t directly influenced by classic X-Men stories. I like to believe [Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski] and [Ultimate Spider-Man writer] Jonathan Hickman chose me because they wanted something completely new and different.”
Ultimate X-Men #1 goes on sale Wednesday, March 6 from Marvel Comics.
