Rumor: Disney+ Vision Series to Include New Avengers Team

The upcoming Disney Plus Vision series may have a brand new Avengers team, the West Coast Avengers, if the industry rumors are to be believed. The show, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and focuses on Paul Bettany’s Vision, doesn’t have an official title but is often referred to as Vision Quest, which is also the name of a Marvel comic storyline featuring the West Coast Avengers.

The West Coast Avengers could assemble in Disney+ Vision series

Per industry scooper Daniel Richtman (Daniel RPK), the Vision series can feature the West Coast Avengers, a completely different Avengers team from the ones the movie fans are accustomed to. However, it may comprise a few familiar faces.

“I hear this show will have elements from the ‘West [Coast] Avengers’ run and might even have members of that team in the series,” Richtman claimed (via The Direct). In the comics, the founding members of the West Coast Avengers are Hawkeye, Mockingbird, War Machine, Wonder Man, and Tigra. While Vision / White Vision is not an original member of the team, he later joins them and becomes an important part of the group over the years.

If these claims turn out to be true, this means we may see Jeremy Renner return as Clinton Barton / Hawkeye and Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes / War Machine. Meanwhile, Adrianne Palicki played a version of Mockingbird in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the Disney Plus series, Hawkeye, revealed that Clint’s wife Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini) is Agent 19 of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is an alias of Mockingbird in the comics. Further, Wonder Man, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is set to make his debut in the upcoming self-titled miniseries.

If the Vision series indeed turns out to be an adaption of the Vision Quest event, it will fit where Vision is as a character in the overarching narrative of the MCU. In the comics, Vision discovers exactly how his children with Scarlet Witch came into existence. Following the events of WandaVision, the MCU version of White Vision can potentially face similar struggles.
