Exclusive Preview: Nightwing #68

Months ago, Dick Grayson was targeted by Batman’s enemies and shot in the head. However, the near fatal incident seemingly made Dick a new man. He had no memories of his prior life as Nightwing, and reinvented himself as Ric Grayson. In Nightwing’s absence, four amateur heroes attempted to take his place. But the reality of Ric’s genesis was much darker than it originally seemed. The Court of Owls was behind Dick’s memory loss as they attempted to make him into a Talon, one of their elite assassins.

Before the Court could be sure of its success, Ric was sent out to kill as a test of loyalty. Condor Red also came across Ric as he nearly murdered the replacement Nightwings. However, Condor Red simply couldn’t match Ric’s skills. It took an appeal to Ric’s humanity to reach the real man within.

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Nightwing #68, Dan Jurgens and artists Travis Moore and Ronan Cliquet take Ric back through Dick Grayson’s greatest hits. Suddenly, Ric can recall Dick’s time as Robin and Nightwing. Additionally, all of the memories of his friends, family members, and lovers have come rushing back. Is this enough to finally turn Ric back into Dick? First things first, Nightwing has to take on the prime Talon and reclaim himself.

Here’s the official description from DC.

“Being a superhero often means layers of identities. For Ric Grayson, he once had a life as a sidekick to Batman, a life he forgot when a terrible gunshot wound erased his memories. When his long lost grand-father, who is also a super-assassin called Talon, returned to his life and implanted false memories into his brain, that added another layer. Now, with Talon vanquished, Ric Grayson has to shake loose the truth. Is he the man he has created for himself, or is there still some of the old Nightwing lurking around inside his head? Even if he wanted to, could Ric be Nightwing again when four other people have put on the mask and picked up where he left off? Whichever it is, Talon made a mess of his current life, and now Ric has to start putting it all back together.”
