Even if we already knew that Thanos had very little compassion for his allies, we never imagined how merciless the Mad Titan could have been if the film would have followed the early version of the Avengers: Infinity War script. Especially with his servants, the Outriders, who would have ended up decapitated and stuck on a projecting machine. Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz recently took to Instagram to share a glimpse at some discarded plans involving the Outriders and Thanos.
“Here’s an early concept I did for Avengers: Infinity War,” Marantz wrote. “In early version of the script Thanos was using the Outriders to spy on the Avengers. He would then remove their heads and plug them into these machines that would project their Memories for him to watch. It was a cool idea, but never made it in the final film.”

We can easily imagine why these plans never make it in the final film. Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely probably chose not to scar any youngsters for life. Yet, this is not the first time we hear that some of the disregarded scripts involved the decapitation of someone or something. Markus and McFeely even considered the idea of Thanos cutting Captain America’s head off before throwing it at his companions’ feet. But of course, things went in a different, more family-friendly direction. In the Infinity War movie, the Outriders are “just” decimated by the Wakandans and the Avengers.
