DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Writer Talks About Ray Palmer’s Upcoming Exit
The Waverider is going to lose part of its crew soon. It’s no news that the fifth season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be the last one for Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer and Courtney Ford’s Nora Darhk. And according to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow writer Grainne Godfree, who recently spoke with Comicbook, letting the fan-favorite couple go was no easy job.
“I think it was hard for everyone involved,” Godfree said. “I think we felt that their story was coming to a beautiful, natural end. The hardest thing, honestly, was, how do we have Ray Palmer say goodbye to Nate? Because as writers, we love their bromance so much.”

Godfree is pretty sure though that the writing team did justice to the exiting characters, and fans won’t be left with a sour taste in their mouths.
“The best changes, there is a bit of grief in them,” he added. “I feel like we really tried to honor that in our goodbye….It was really tough. I’m just glad that they have a happy ending, as opposed to a tragic one.”
Brandon Routh made his debut in the Arrowverse in the third season of Arrow. But the Atom was not the first superhero Routh portrayed on screen, as he wore Superman’s cape in 2006’s Superman Returns. The recent Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event gave way to Routh to reprise his role as The Man of Steel in a brief adaptation of the Kingdom Come storyline.
The next episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Episode 5.05 will air Feb. 25 at 9/8c on The CW. What do you think about Ray Palmer’s upcoming exit from the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
