Thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, almost all of 2020’s major comic conventions have already been cancelled. Now, ReedPop has officially cancelled plans to hold its annual New York Comic Con in October. However, NYCC will live on as a virtual event this year, via the New York Comic Con YouTube channel.
ReedPop has announced that NYCC 2020 will live stream panels from October 8-11. So far, the only announced panels are CBS All Access’ Star Trek Universe and American Gods. However, the announcement did note that DreamWorks Animation, Hulu, and FX will have showcase panels as well.
According to ReedPop, “fans will be able to participate in talent Q&A’s during panels, turn every panel into a watch party and geek out with other fans using YouTube’s Community and Live Chat features.”

ReedPop President Lance Fensterman also issued a statement about NYCC 2020.
“We are thoroughly disappointed that we can’t gather together, in-person for the New York Comic Con we love to build and our fans love to revel in. We look forward to this weekend all year long, just like you, and with this being our 15th edition, we were particularly excited…While this year will definitely be a different experience, we are going to look to bring the best and most engaging event to our fans, exhibitors, and studios through our partnership with YouTube.”
Further NYCC 2020 panel announcements will be forthcoming within the next few weeks.
