Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Suit Up For Avengers: Mech Strike

Normally, The Avengers (with the exception of Iron Man) aren’t characters you’d think would need to don suits of armor before they head into a fight. But next year, the team will encounter a threat so deadly that they’ll be forced to make a few upgrades to their wardrobe. Marvel has just announced Avengers: Mech Strike, a new miniseries where all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take a page out of Tony Stark’s playbook and step into their own mechanized battle suits.

Handling this new title is writer Jed MacKay (Black Cat) and artist Carlos Magno (Invaders). Additionally, Marvel has released a new teaser video for the upcoming event, which shows the blueprints for each hero’s suit. Viewers can see designs for Spider-Man, Hulk, Black Panther, and more. Check it out for yourself below.

Although the series will only run for five issues, it sounds like there are big plans for the Avengers’ new gear. Apparently, the comic will launch a new initiative spanning comics, digital content, and other tie-ins. Marvel also shared that Mech Strike is “just the beginning of this epic story that will unfold throughout next year!”

“When the Avengers come up against something that defies their usual methods, new tools are needed for the job: giant robot suits,” MacKay said in a statement. “It’s been a blast to take on the Avengers and really put them in the thick of it. When you’re dealing with the Avengers, everything is big. Big action. Big stakes. And now, big robots!”

MacKay wouldn’t divulge the identity of the new series’ villain. However, he teased that it might be someone (or something) readers will recognize.

“We’re going for non-stop, full-bore action, with a lineup of Avengers favorites going up against an unexpected new foe…that might end up being quite familiar! Aliens, robots, dinosaurs, Martians…it’s going to get worse before it gets better for our heroes.”

Avengers: Mech Strike #1 hits comic shops this February. You can check out the first issue’s cover along with a few pages of interior artwork in the gallery below.
