After announcing its upcoming Miracleman #0 one-shot earlier this week, Marvel has teased even more future plans for Michael Moran and his alter-ego. Namely, the continuation of Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham’s run from the early ‘90s. Nearly 30 years after Eclipse Comics published their last issue, Marvel will resume publication of Miracleman: The Silver Age, with Gaiman and Buckingham returning to finish the story they began telling all the way back in 1990. Originally, Gaiman and Buckingham’s goals for Miracleman included three volumes comprised of six issues each. The first collection of issues, The Golden Age, was released between 1990 and 1992. The duo subsequently began working on the follow-up volume, The Silver Age. Unfortunately, readers were left hanging in 1994 when Eclipse went bankrupt and ceased all publishing operations. Marvel later secured Miracleman’s rights in 2009 and began teasing a revival of Gaiman and Buckingham’s series as early as 2013.
“We’re back! And after thirty years away it is both thrilling and terrifying,” said Buckingham in a new statement. “Neil and I have had these stories in our heads since 1989 so it is amazing to finally be on the verge of sharing them with our readers.”

In addition to the new issues, Marvel will also print remastered versions of the two Silver Age issues that were finished before Eclipse folded in the mid-‘90s. These issues will reportedly include new artwork and bonus material. Additionally, fans can look forward to a new trade paperback release of Miracleman: The Golden Age as well.
“I have pushed myself to my limit to craft something special for these issues,” continued Buckingham. “Cinematic in approach, clean and elegant, drawing on the best of my own style but also paying homage to the exceptional talents of all who came before us, whose unique visions have shaped this ground-breaking series over forty years, and the 1950’s Marvelman foundations on which it was built.”
Marvel still hasn’t announced a release date for Miracleman: The Silver Age.
