AHOY Comics has released an official preview for Captain Ginger: The Last Feeder #1, which marks the return of Stuart Moore and June Brigman’s feline-centric sci-fi story.
The Last Feeder #1 hits comic shops next Wednesday as the first in a two-issue limited series celebrating the fifth anniversary of Captain Ginger. The issue is written by Moore, penciled by Brigman, inked by Roy Richardson, colored by Veronica Gandini, and lettered by Richard Starkings and Comicraft‘s Jimmy Betancourt. It features a main cover by Brigman, as well as a variant cover by Walter Simonson. Simonson’s variant pays homage to the iconic poster art for 1977’s Star Wars. At this time, AHOY has also revealed five fully-lettered preview pages from the latest chapter in the Captain Ginger saga.

An official synopsis for The Last Feeder #1 reads as follows: “Back for a two-issue AHOY anniversary special: the ‘wonderfully entertaining series, combining all the tropes and trappings of serious sci-fi with the ridiculousness of cats being cats’ (Comics Beat)! In this all-new epic, Captain Ginger and his crew find themselves scattered across a thousand light-years, facing the twin mysteries of the Captain’s long-missing father — and the final fate of the human race.”
Captain Ginger celebrates half a decade of comics
Created by Moore and Brigman, Captain Ginger originally launched at AHOY in October 2018. The original four-issue limited series centers on the titular Captain Ginger, who leads an intelligent race of space-faring cats in a future where humanity has died out. Captain Ginger returned for a second, six-issue series — dubbed “Season Two” — in 2020.
Captain Ginger: The Last Feeder #1 goes on sale Wednesday, November 8 from AHOY Comics.
