Mark Millar’s Millarworld Finds a New Home at Dark Horse Comics

Mark Millar‘s Millarworld imprint has officially moved from Image Comics to Dark Horse Comics.

In a press release, Dark Horse announced that its new “extensive publishing partnership” with Millar will “include collections of previously published material as well as five new series in 2024.” The first of these new series is Nemesis: Rogues’ Gallery, a follow-up to Nemesis and Nemesis: Reloaded. Dark Horse will announce the other four new Millarworld titles at a later date.

In the meantime, Dark Horse is set to publish new trade paperback editions of Millar’s The Magic Order Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. A new single-volume edition of Nemesis: Reloaded will follow suit, as will a new edition of Night Club Vol. 1. The publisher has also announced new Dark Horse Library Editions featuring Wanted, Big Game, The Ambassadors, The Magic Order, and more.

In addition to all the aforementioned comics, the Millarworld label also includes titles like American Jesus, Kick-Ass, Supercrooks, Kingsman, and Jupiter’s Legacy. Interestingly enough, American Jesus originally launched as a Dark Horse title in 2004. Millar then entered an agreement with Icon Comics (a now-defunct imprint of Marvel Comics), which was the original publisher of books like Kick-Ass, Nemesis, Supercrooks, and Kingsman.

However, the Millarworld lineup has arguably been at its most prolific under Image. Since teaming with the publisher, Millar has put out comics like Jupiter’s Legacy, Starlight, The Magic Order, Prodigy, Night Club, The Ambassadors, Big Game, and more.

Mark Millar discusses the move to Dark Horse

“Can I just say that I’ve been a Dark Horse fan since the beginning, and this has been a decades long love affair finally consummated?” Millar said. “I’ve loved what Mike and the team have been doing for years and so many of my friends are over there having a great time. I really just wanted to join the party and not only haul my massive, shelf-groaning library with me, but also commit to several years of really exciting stuff in the wake of our Big Game crossover event.”

The writer continued, “We’re launching five new titles in 2024, all of which will be revealed on March 21. Beyond this, I’m working hard on the 2025 launches right now, four completely new series you’re going to love. This feels like a partnership made in heaven already and now the strikes are over and the pandemic is in the rear-view mirror, we can start to roll out all the associated shows and movies at Netflix too. I’m buzzing, but this might just be the booze.”

“I’ve admired Mark’s work for years and I’m very excited to bring his Millarworld of stories to Dark Horse,” Dark Horse president Mike Richardson added. “Mark’s world-building and character creation has put him at the forefront of the comics industry and we couldn’t be happier about welcoming him and his team to Dark Horse. As a big fan, I’m looking forward to seeing what surprises he has in store for us.”
