Kid Venom #1 Cover Reveals Kintaro’s Tangled Web

Marvel Comics has revealed manga artist Taigami’s main cover art for Kid Venom #1.

Kid Venom #1 arrives in comic shops this April as the first in a four-issue limited series written and illustrated by Taigami. The book continues the story of Kintaro, aka Kid Venom, whom Taigami introduced within the pages of Death of the Venomverse. Marvel announced the new series last month, at which point the publisher revealed artist Gerardo Sandoval’s Foil Variant Cover for issue #1. Kid Venom’s first original solo outing will see him make the jump from an alternate version of 10th-century Japan to present-day Earth-616.

Who is Marvel’s Kid Venom?

In Death of the Venomverse, Taigami told the tale of Kintaro — a young boy from Heian-era Japan who protected his village from symbiote attacks by embracing a symbiote of his own, named Clinter. This serialized origin story was recently collected in the one-shot Kid Venom: Origins #1, which released earlier this month.

An official synopsis for Kid Venom’s upcoming solo series reads as follows: “Japan, 977. Kid Venom has made his presence known to the evil symbiotes taking people and creatures hostage … but who else has their eye on Kintaro and his symbiote? Witness the world of Kid Venom expand as new characters and dangers are revealed!”

“It is an honor. I was a big fan of the Marvel Universe since I was in school, so this feels unreal that the characters and the stories that I came up with are in that Universe, and I still can’t believe it!” Taigami said of bringing his creation to Marvel‘s main continuity.

Kid Venom #1 goes on sale Wednesday, April 17 from Marvel Comics.
