Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures found great success in 2023 with the new Conan the Barbarian comic. The revival continues in 2024, with the return of the Savage Sword of Conan.
The original Savage Sword series was published by Marvel Comics from 1974 to 1995. It was an anthology, notable both for featuring monochromatic artwork and for being printed in a magazine format. This last feature allowed for more mature content than in Marvel’s Conan the Barbarian comics as magazines were not governed by the Comics Code Authority rules. Beyond telling tales of Conan, the series also featured stories with other Robert E. Howard creations, like the Puritan monster-hunter Solomon Kane.
The new Savage Sword of Conan holds true to the spirit of the original. The first issue features a prose story by Conan the Barbarian author Jim Zub, and a Conan comic by John Arcudi, with art by Max Von Fafner. It also features the return of Solomon Kane, in a story written and drawn by Patch Zircher.

Savage Sword of Conan Variant Covers
Traditionally, the Savage Sword of Conan series also boasted beautiful painted covers, as colorful and vivid as the interior art. The revival series continues this tradition, having brought back legendary fantasy artist Joe Jusko to paint the main cover for the first issue. Jusko painted many of the covers for the original Savage Sword anthology series. The first issue will also feature variant covers by Gerado Zaffino and Max Von Fafner, as well as a virgin variant of the Jusko main cover.
Savage Sword of Conan #1 releases on February 28, 2024.
