Moon Man: Kid Cudi’s Superhero Comic Lands a Second Printing

The premiere issue of Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi’s Image Comics series Moon Man is blasting off back to the printers.

According to Image, Moon Man #1 — which landed in comic shops today, January 31 — has already sold out at the distributor level. As such, the Portland-based publisher is rushing a second printing for the sci-fi superhero comic. Moon Man #1 will return to comic shops on Wednesday, February 28 — the same day issue #2 debuts.

What is Kid Cudi’s Moon Man about?

Moon Man teams writer Mescudi with co-writer Kyle Higgins, artist Marco Locati, colorist Igor Monti, letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and editor Michael Busuttil. The series “follows Ramon Townsend, a man ready for a quiet life after gaining unexpected celebrity status for steering his ship and crew safely home from a near-disastrous moon mission.”

The synopsis continues, “Whatever went wrong on that failed moon mission, whatever happened in the missing minutes the cameras didn’t capture, all Ramon really wants is to settle down back home in Cleveland. But those missing minutes hold an Earth-shattering secret — and, with all eyes turned to him, Ramon will soon find himself becoming something the world has never seen before.”

“This might be one of the top three coolest things I’ve ever been a part of,” Mescudi said when Image announced Moon Man at New York Comic Con 2023. “This story is something that took a lot of love from everyone involved. I promise you this comic will be unlike anything you’ve read before.”

“What we specialize in and pride ourselves on is building very relatable, contemporary superheroes for the 2020s with great aesthetics and style that have something to say and push the boundaries of the medium,” Higgins added. “As Ramon’s powers grow and he tries to change the world, readers will watch what that means and what happens as a result. This is very much our Miracleman for 2024.”

Moon Man #1 is on sale now from Image Comics.
