Dune: House Corrino First Look Previews the Prequel Trilogy Capper

BOOM! Studios has released a first-look preview for Dune: House Corrino #1 — which kicks off the final entry in the publisher’s trilogy of Dune prequel series.

BOOM!’s Dune: House Corrino is based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The eight-issue comic book adaptation teams writers Herbert and Anderson with artist Simone Ragazzoni, colorist Dan Jackson, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. The debut issue — which arrives later this month — features a main cover by Raymond Swanland, as well as variant covers by Veronica Fish, Swanland, Rebeca Puebla, and Dan Mora. At this time, BOOM! has shared five fully-lettered interior pages.

What to expect from Dune: House Corrino

An official synopsis for House Corrino #1 reads as follows: “House Corrino, once the deadliest House in the known universe as the Imperial family, set up the final pieces leading into the events of Dune and the fall of House Atreides. While conflicts escalate between the Fremen and House Harkonnen on Arrakis, the Bene Gesserit keep a close eye on Jessica’s pregnancy, and House Atreides takes part in the plan to seal Ix’s fate…”

Herbert and Anderson’s original Dune: House Corrino was itself the third entry in a trilogy — following 1999’s Dune: House Atreides and 2000’s Dune: House Harkonnen. These three books collectively serve as a direct prequel to Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel from 1965.

Brian Herbert — Frank’s son — and longtime co-writer Anderson previously joined forces with BOOM! to adapt House Atreides as a 12-issue comic book series from 2020 to 2021. A 12-issue adaptation of House Harkonnen subsequently launched in early 2023 and wrapped up earlier this year.

The eight-issue adaptation of House Corrino comes hot on the heels of Dune: Part Two — the second half of director Denis Villeneuve’s big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s original sci-fi epic. Dune: Part Two has been met with rave reviews, currently holding a “Certified Fresh” rating of 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s global take sits at $211 million heading into its second weekend at the box office.

Dune: House Corrino #1 goes on sale Wednesday, March 20 from BOOM! Studios.
