Sinister Sons #4 Preview Reveals the Fate of Sinestro

A new War of Light has emerged, between the Lantern Corps and the United Planets’ new Green Lanterns. Sinestro, the rogue who founded a Corps that wielded fear as the Green Lantern Corps utilized willpower, has been oddly absent from this conflict. However, the fate of the man once considered the greatest of Green Lanterns is revealed in Sinister Sons #4.

Written by Peter Tomasi, with art by David Lafuente, Sinister Sons #4 finds Sinestro returning to the planet of New Korugar. However, it is far from the happy homecoming he envisioned. He discovers that the Central Power Battery of his Corps has been destroyed. This was part of the United Planets’ recent efforts to destroy the Central Power Batteries of all seven Lantern Corps. Unsurprisingly, Sinestro is quick to swear revenge and to lead his people against those who dared attack their new homeworld.

Sinestro a New Threat to Galactic Order

Sinestro was last seen in 2023’s Green Lantern #5. It was here he tapped a new power source, after Hal Jordan thwarted his plan to inspire mass panic. Denied the power of fear, his anger was such that he was able to tap the Red power of Rage without a Red Lantern ring. This allowed him to escape his exile to Earth and make his way back to New Korugar.

Regardless of what power he draws upon, Sinestro is a major threat to the United Planets’ plans. He is a brilliant general, who commands the loyalty of the people of New Korugar. The fact that he can tap the emotional spectrum without a ring is almost incidental to the damage he can do as a charismatic leader. However, it remains to be seen if Sinestro will be an ally or yet another enemy of the rogue Green Lanterns based on Earth.

Sinister Sons #4 arrives in comic shops everywhere on May 14, 2024.
