Note From the Editor: As part of Superhero Hype’s ongoing cosplay coverage, our special correspondent, Ashlynne Dae, is back with a new column. Last week, Ashlynne walked us through the creation of her Mystique cosplay, which was inspired by the Uncanny X-Men comics rather than the live-action X-Men movies. Now, it’s time for Ashlynne to give us a better view of the finished costume, while also sharing her thoughts about Mystique’s character.
I bet it wouldn’t come to any surprise to you if I told you what drew me to cosplay Mystique was her ability to shape shift. No? Thought so. As a cosplayer, I am constantly shifting into one character and then the next. I also try my best to portray each of them to the best of my ability.

But at the end of the day that’s why I love to cosplay. I love being allowed to let different aspects of me come out to play in a safe contained way, even if it’s the wicked ones.
I hope you enjoyed this, and I also hope it helps inspire you to create your own cosplays! If you have any questions, few free to contact me.
