SDCC Video Exclusive: Christoph Waltz on The Green Hornet

One year ago, very few people knew who Austrian actor Christoph Waltz was, but after Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds made its U.S. debut at Comic-Con to enormous rapture, it created a buzz that took Waltz all the way to Oscar night where he won for his supporting performance as Colonel Hans Landa, the Nazi officer known as “The Jew Hunter.”

This year, Waltz made it to Comic-Con himself to be a part of the Hall H presentation for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen in the title role. ComingSoon.net’s SuperHeroHype had a chance to talk with the Oscar winner a few hours before that panel took place.

We tried our best to talk to him about his character, but he wasn’t having any of that, preferring to give us a speech about how he doesn’t like defining the roles he plays as good or bad. We did eventually get him to tell us the name of the character at least, but you know what? Waltz is such a great actor (especially in “Basterds”) that we were just fine talking about whatever he wanted to talk about.

Despite his trepidation about discussing characters, he did tell us that he will be playing a Ringmaster in Francis Lawrence’s Water for Elephants, which I guess is something, right?

You can watch the brief video interview below. (It also features a cameo from Matt Patches of UGO. Hey, Matt! Don’t stand behind the talent, we’re filming!)
