Final Cut of Constantine Reviews!

Constantine doesn’t hit theaters until February 18th, but Warner Bros. has been doing test screenings and we’ve got word from two scoopers about another one from last night, which apparently was the final cut.

First up is ‘Mary’ with a positive review:

Last night, I saw a screening of the movie Constantine up here in the bay area. It was touted by the people showing the screening as the final cut of the film being released next February. I was pleasantly surprise by what I saw. The movie kicked major ass and it’s probably Keanu’s best performance since the original Matrix. He plays a rugged magician named John Constantine, who helps a police woman (Rachel Weisz) look into the death of her twin sister who fell to her death off a roof of a hospital. They both find out that her death was not accident and start investigating into it with terrifying results. Like I said before, this is Keanu Reeves’ best work since the original Matrix and he shows sides of himself that he never showed before. He was simply great in the film. Rachel Weisz is also fantastic (she’s becoming one of my favorite actresses) and the great Peter Stormare plays the devil himself and is a real S.O.B, if you get what I’m saying. The FX’s were exciting and the story was compelling. The only character I did not like was the angel Gabriel but the rest of the cast was great. I hope they do make a sequel to this because this was one great film.

‘Globemit’ also wrote in with a little less positive review.

I saw a preview of the final cut of the movie Constantine up here in LA yesterday and to give you a brief rundown, it’s ok, nothing great. The movie stars Keanu Reeves as a supernatural private eye who helps a police detective played by Rachel Weisz into inquiring about the strange suicide that was committed by her twin sister. As the movie gets going both of them will have to defend against angels and demons that want to rule the world and the devil himself, who has a grudge with Constantine. The acting is ok with Keanu being Keanu, Rachel Weisz stealing the movie and Shia LaBeouf being a pain in the butt. The special effects are ok but not great and the movie as a whole just works fairly in keeping you interested in what is going on, which is a lot better than the some of the films I have seen this year. It’s worth a look but only once.
