Comic-Styled Taskmaster Gets a Detailed Marvel Select Figure

Last year, fans fully expected that by this time in 2020, they’d have witnessed the big-screen exploits of the Taskmaster by now. The longtime Marvel villain with a fight-mimicking moveset drew cheers at Comic-Con. Appearing in Black Widow movie footage as the big bad, the mysterious masked man (person?) looked ready to give Scarlett Johansson a really hard time. Alas, the more dastardly villainy of Covid-19 ravaged the real world, and audiences must wait a bit longer. Toys, however, will not be delayed. And while initially set to better cash in on Black Widow hype, the new Marvel Select Taskmaster stands alone as a quality execution. Only truly tough opponents can wear blue and orange and get away with it.

Standing 7.5 inches tall, this ultimate warrior comes with a skull mask and a more modern robotic variant. Ready to mirror the tactics of whatever foe he faces, Taskmaster includes a shield, sword, pistol, bow, three removable arrows, and an interchangeable bow-firing hand. But it’s the grinning skull that enhances his intimidation factor the most. Which makes it all the more ironic that he’s a Disney Store exclusive. (Also available at ShopDisney.com and ShopMarvel.com.) Expect to pay $30-$35 for the privilege.

Black Widow is currently scheduled for Nov. 6th, and set to kick of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4. When that finally hits theaters, everyone will see what a live-action Taskmaster is really made of. In the meantime, this villainous figure can terrorize plastic protagonists.
