Boba Fett Supporting Characters Get New Figures…Sort of

In general, The Book of Boba Fett didn’t rely on big surprises as much as some other Star Wars and Marvel Disney+ shows. But among the moments the fans popped for the most were the live-action debuts of fan-favorite characters from other media. Wookiee bounty hunter and gladiator Black Krrsantan previously appeared in several comics. Meanwhile, Cad Bane began life as one of the most popular original characters from The Clone Wars cartoons. Hasbro often takes a year or more to make toys of new-to-live-action characters, so recent announcements that the Boba Fett supporting characters would get new toys surprised many. But there’s a catch.

See, the Black Krrsantan and Cad Bane figures announced this week aren’t based on The Book of Boba Fett at all. Krrsantan comes part of the Black Series comic-based sub-line, which comes in deluxe window box packaging and leans heavily on repaints. Rather than an all-new figure matching his TV look, it’s essentially a repainted Chewbacca with new head and single-color armor piece.

As for Bane, he’s based on an appearance in The Bad Batch animation. Again, this appears to be a modified version of the recently released figure, with new armor pieces and accessories. Both go for a whopping $27.99, This appears to be the new price point for the figures that used to command $25 as “premium” offerings. Bane will go online later today as an Amazon exclusive. Krrsantan’s up now at Entertainment Earth. (Note: Superhero Hype participates in the Entertainment Earth Affiliate Program, designed to provide a means to earn fees by linking to Entertainment Earth.)

Given Lucasfilm’s level of secrecy with licensees, expect the two to inspire live-action inspired figures sometime next year. Hasbro only recently announced the Rosario Dawson-based Ahsoka figure, to give you some idea of timetables. What likely happened: they heard or suspected these characters might appear on the show, but did not have access to actual production designs.

Take a look at the actual figure prototypes in the gallery below. Then tell us what you think in comments.
