Mezco Doctor Doom Features Four Horsemen Sculpting, Real Metal

In the world of collectible toys, sculptors often go uncredited. Specialty companies like Diamond Select and NECA have improved on that, of course. But in general, the major mass retailers don’t want their figure artists to gain any fame and leverage more money. Among the first toy sculptors to gain any kind of notice for their work were the Four Horsemen, a team of four who worked at McFarlane Toys and Mattel. They now make their own independent Mythic Legions figures, but also contract out for companies like Super7. Now, for the first time, they’ve teamed with Mezco. The One:12 Collective Doctor Doom, available now, features Four Horsemen sculpting on all but the soft cape and some accessories.

Perhaps that’s why it has so many great features. Doom includes two unmasked faces with three different masks. Seventeen interchangeable hands include a pair with sparking effects. For the others, various blast and spell effects can attach. And thrusters plug into his feet. Accessories include a hinged spell book with printed pages, and a light-up Cosmic Power Siphon Harness (the one thing the Horsemen didn’t make). Armor includes a metal chain and metal parts. Can you tell Doom is Horseman Eric Mayse’s favorite villain?
