One might think that the first Hasbro Marvel Legends action figure to be based on the Werewolf by Night TV special would be, well, Werewolf by Night himself. As everyone knew as soon as they saw the first trailer, however, he’s not the most popular character on his own special — that would be Man-Thing, previously the star of his own much-derided, direct-to-video movie by Lionsgate. The swampy creature who turns fear into fire at his hands has always been a popular favorite, inspiring previous toys. This one is specifically based on the MCU version, which appears in color at the very end of the mostly black-and-white special and answers to the name of Ted.

The figure does re-use some parts, but Hasbro’s being very specific about which. He boasts a new torso, head, forearms and shins, and comes packaged with an extra set of hands. At $39.99. he’s the size of a standard build-a-figure, towering over basic characters. A fan-channel exclusive, he’ll go up for preorder at 1 p.m. eastern starting June 13, at most of your favorite online toy stores. Expect delivery later in the fall.
Could we see his werewolf buddy later in the year? There’s a very good chance. It seems like when something hits that didn’t get toy plans in advance, it takes about two years for a major toy company to react, make decisions, and get relevant figures out to market. Unless it’s an all-hands-on-deck emergency like, “HOLY CRAP THERE’S A BABY YODA!”
Don’t be too terribly surprised if Hasbro busts out a black and white variant as an exclusive, either — though surprisingly, they never did that with WandaVision. Maybe they just need to test the waters on a style that McFarlane uses constantly to create popular repaints.
