Mondo MOTU Scare Glow and Scare-Mare On-Sale Details

Everyone at Mondo Toys clearly loves Scare Glow. Aside from He-Man and Skeletor, he’s the only Masters of the Universe character to get three completely different figures. This third one is something of an ultimate version, with sculpted bone detail for the first time, armor sets with hanging chains and two different capes for both his classic toy look and his Revelation/Revolution revamp. Also included for the first time is a Karak Nul head, revealing what the evil ghost looked like before he died, as well as an alternate ghostly Karak Nul portrait.

Them Bones

Scare Glow is basically a Grim reaper on steroids, so there’s a lot of crossover appeal there. Everyone loves spooky skeletons. Now, however, Mondo’s counting on that carrying over to love of a pale horse for him to ride, as in the Book of Revelation. Scare-Mare, who features a fully luminous body, comes with armor and bat-like wings, which can pop off to be replaced by spectral flames if that’s easier on the display shelf. Skull face aside, Scare-Mare’s body looks much like a regular horse’s, and will almost certainly be reused for She-Ra’s equine companion Swift Wind.

Scare Glow and Scare-Mare will go up for sale both separately and in a combo pack. The combo is a bit cheaper than both individually, and will include a special mini-comic introducing Scare-Mare to MOTU lore, as well as a bonus flaming skull head and flaming scythe blade. It seems the steed was slain in battle by King Randor, and now he’s back for revenge.

The horse costs $599. The rider is $275. Get them both for $775 and save a hundred bucks. They’ll go on sale Tuesday, July 23rd, through Ag. 9th.

That’s a big chunk of change, so if you’re unsure whether you want him, take a look through all the official images below.
