Aquaman is just over two weeks away, and Warner Bros. is kicking the hype machine into high gear. Via ComicBook.com, two new clips from the film have been released, and they couldn’t be more different from each other. You can check out both of these latest offerings below.
The first clip provides a new look at Mera (Amber Heard) confronting Arthur (Jason Momoa) outside of a bar. In a way, the scene mirrors Arthur’s brusque interaction with Bruce Wayne at the beginning of Justice League. Mera is seen imploring Arthur to fulfill his destiny as Atlantis’ true king. Much like the clip shown on Monday’s episode of Good Morning America, Arthur is hesitant to embrace the Atlantean side of his heritage despite Mera’s insistence that his half-brother, King Orm (Patrick Wilson), plans to obliterate the surface world.

The second clip is more action-oriented and shows Arthur battling Orm inside an Atlantean coliseum. Both characters are decked out in similar metallic armor, but they possess two very distinct weapons. Arthur wields the trident that belonged to their mother, Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman). According to Orm, the weapon is “powerful, but flawed like her.” Conversely, Orm duels with his father’s trident, which “has never known defeat.” The clip gives us further insight into how the film handles fight sequences in an underwater environment. The choreography is certainly detailed, complete with bubbles and ripples created by the characters’ movements. There’s also a fair amount of slow-motion, which has been standard procedure for most DC movies. But perhaps because of ocean physics, it’s presented in a manner that comes off as more natural instead of kitschy.
