Four years ago this month, Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service became one of his biggest hits. The movie was based upon Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ The Secret Service comic book, and it spawned a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. A third movie, Kingsman: The Great Game, is already in the works. But fans are going to have to wait another year to see the Kingsman prequel film.
Via The Hollywood Reporter, Kingsman: The Great Game has been pushed back to February 14, 2020. That’s almost five years to the day that The Secret Service hit theaters. However, the next film won’t feature any of the previous Kingsman stars. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes will headline The Great Game, alongside Matthew Goode, Harris Dickinson, and other performers. The story will explore the early days of the Kingsman organization. Presumably, The Great Game will explore the group’s origin and expand upon it.

Additionally, THR indicates that Vaughn’s next film after The Great Game will be the currently untitled Kingsman 3. Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are likely to reprise their roles as Eggsy and Harry Hart, respectively. Halle Berry (Whiskey), Channing Tatum (Tequila), and Jeff Bridges (Champagne/Champ) are also likely to return as agents of Statesman, the American counterpart of Kingsman. Vaughn has also indicated that the sequel will give all of the major characters their own “journey.” Whether they will all return for the film remains to be seen. However, it seems like a safe bet.
