Chris Pratt Is Excited for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Return

Chris Pratt Shares Is Excited for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Return

One by one, the Guardians of the Galaxy continue to express how grateful they feel for James Gunn to be back in the director’s chair for the series’ third installment. Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan have already praised Disney for rehiring Gunn to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Now, team leader Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) has responded to the studio’s decision.

Pratt shared his enthusiasm with People at the premiere of Avengers: Endgame this week. The actor previously voiced an openness to continue the Guardians series with a new director steering the ship. However, Pratt admitted that Gunn’s involvement allows them to give the franchise the proper conclusion it deserves.

“I was so thrilled, so excited,” said Pratt. “It’s the right move; I really stand behind it. I’m really proud of Disney for hiring James back and ultimately thrilled for not only us, but also for the fans.”

“It’s going to wrap up the trilogy in the best way. And Guardians of the Galaxy are really all about second chances and giving people an opportunity to be their best,” added Pratt. “We’re a ragtag squad of people coming together and having each other’s back.”

Although Guardians 3 reclaimed Gunn as its director, the film’s release date remains up in the air. Marvel originally planned to release the film in 2020, until Gunn’s firing messed with its production timetable. Warner Bros. has also tapped the director to write and direct The Suicide Squad before he turns his attention back to the MCU. Additionally, the studio must now work around any other commitments the actors have in place. Pratt himself is expected to star in another Jurassic World film, which arrives in theaters on June 11, 2021.
